Welcome to Digital Media Class Syllabus!

Instructors: Ms. Darnell and Mr. Johnson.

Goals of the Course

To get you to understand the importance of digital media in the 21st century classroom. You will create a blog and need a gmail account. If you already have one, then you're in good shape. If you don't, then first step is to ask your parent for permission. Second step, view this tutorial on how to setup a free gmail account:

Thank you! You're all set to begin. Now be sure to share this account with Ms. Darnell or Mr. Johnson, whomever is your instructor.

**Now that you have an email address, request access to this page. It's located in the top right corner. Send your email address and a note that includes your name, class period and instructor

Online Course

You will be able to access all of your course content via anywhere online. If you have wifi or an internet connect, then you can do your work. As expected, there will be plenty of digital content. You will need to create and/or share your email address with instructors. We will show you have to get on this workspace, but you will need an email address. Parents, feel free to use your email address, if you prefer to keep your child in an easily monitored address. Also, there are TWO PARENT CONSENT FORM that needs your signature (one for consent and another for devices brought from home)! Digital Media Parent Form.pdf and GLEC-PVA Digital Media Class BYOD ParentStudent Contract.pdf.

Projects

Most of your work will be visible on the blog you create or located here. When you're asked to leave comments and/or participate in a discussion, THAT IS A GRADE!

Blog posts that include app explorations will count as a MAJOR GRADE and will be highlighted in red on the Course Assignments page.

Behavior/Etiquette for our Digital Media Class

Please know that there are rules for how to behave on this site. The main one being that this is a private, closed group. DO NOT SHOW/INVITE OTHERS TO OUR CLASS BUSINESS! Of course parents are welcome...but let's maintain the intergrity of this website. Please review the Wiki Etiquette for Students

Examinations

We will have MULTIPLE opportunities for daily grades. Anytime you're asked to research an app, create a coding project or participate in a Twitter chat, those will count as major grades.

Course Grade

Grading is on a straight scale (no curve), with 90%, 80%, 70%, 60% guaranteeing A, B, C, and D respectively. Remember that attendance is required and missing class can result in a grade reduction or even a failing grade because everything is on here or your blog and it's accessible anywhere. :)
